Taryn Winkle and Renee Zwicker– “Legal Love”
Taryn and Renee planned to get married June 23, 2013 despite the fact that same-sex marriage was still considered illegal in California. They did the whole shebang, complete with a beautiful wedding cake. The cake was made by Rossmoor Pastries in Long Beach, California. Vanilla Bavarian cream and fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries) filled the vanilla and chocolate cake. While the pictures are deceptive, that is not fondant icing on the cake. The cake was artistically frosted with vanilla buttercream. The flowers entwining the cake are real and done by Annie Kim of La Tulipe Floral Design in Laguna Niguel, CA. Unfortunately, the brides had forgotten their topper of a beautiful likeness of the couple, made for them by a friend, Cynthia Malabuyoc.
Behold, four days later, same-sex marriage became legal.
So, wanting to celebrate again (who wouldn’t), the couple had an intimate get-together they called “Legal Love”, on their one month anniversary. Taryn’s parents flew all the way back from New Jersey for the celebration. And, loving the cake that Rossmoor Pastries made for their formal wedding, they asked them to make something smaller in size, but still very large in significance.

The ”Legal Love “ cake mimics the same style and has the same flavors. And if you look to the upper left you can see there, among the flowers, the topper their friend made of two beautiful women in love.
